Box Score JOHNSON, VT - The Husson University women's basketball team went on a 21-to-7 run to open the game and cruised to a 67-42 win at Johnson St. on Saturday afternoon. Husson improves to 15-8 overall and 13-3 in North Atlantic Conference play while Johnson St. falls to 6-15 and 6-9 in league play.
Victoria McIntyre (Mars Hill, ME) capped the 21-7 run with a pair of free throws with 8:39 to go in the half.
Johnson St. when on a run as well, closing the gap to 25-20 with 2:13 remaining, but a three-pointer from Miranda Drinkwater (Greenville, ME) halted the run and the Eagles took a 34-23 lead into halftime.
McIntyre had 10 points to lead the Eagles in the first 20 minutes as Husson shot 37.0 percent from the field while holding Johnson St. to 17.6 percent.
Johnson St. got within eight twice in the first six minutes of the second half, but Husson responded with a 21-to-2 run through the next eight minutes to take a 60-33 lead with 5:29 left and put the game out of reach.
McIntyre finished with a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds while Taylor Blood (Lincoln, ME) came off the bench to score 14 points. Stephanie Comstock (Bangor, ME) had a game-high 16 points.
Brittany Robertson scored 13 points to lead Johnson St.
Husson shot 39.6 percent while holding Johnson St. to 16.2 percent. Husson had a 43-35 edge in rebounding.
The Eagles return to action on Wednesday at UMaine-Farmington.
