Box Score BANGOR, ME - The Husson University women's basketball team fell to Colby by the score of 64-57 on Tuesday night in Newman Gymnasium. Husson falls to 13-8 overall while Colby goes to 16-6.
The Mules took a quick 6-4 lead, but the Eagles would go on an 11-to-2 run to take a 15-8 lead with 12:50 remaining. However, the Mules scored the next seven points to knot the game at 15 with 11:22 left.
The Eagles took back the lead and maintained it until Marykate Caverly made a three-pointer with 21 seconds and the game went into intermission knotted at 27.
Husson was led by
Samira Cruz (Orlando, FL) with 10 points while the Mules were led by Carylanne Wolfington with 11 points. Husson made 40.7% from the field and the Mules made 37.5% from the field.
The Eagles took their first lead of the second half on a Cruz jumper that made it 34-32 with 16:52 remaining, but Colby went on a 24-to-8 run and held a 56-42 lead with 6:25 left.
Husson did not fade away though, and a pair of
Kelsie Richards (Corinna, ME) free throws with 1:37 left capped a 15-to-6 run. The Eagles had a possession to make it a one-score game, but could not convert and Colby escaped with the win.
The Eagles were lead by Cruz with 14 points,
Chandler Guerrette (Presque Isle, ME) with 11 points and
Stephanie Comstock (Bangor, ME) with 10 points. Wolfington led the Mules with a game-high 22 points and six rebounds. Husson finished the night shooting 39.6% from the field, as the Mules finished the night shooting 38.9% from the field.
