Box Score BANGOR, Maine – Raheem Anderson scored a team-high 20 points to lead the Eagles to a 106-69 victory over New England College (NEC) in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday afternoon in Newman Gym.
Husson (5-2, 4-0 NAC) wins its fourth-straight NAC game, while New England College (3-6, 1-3 NAC) drops its second-straight game this season and falls to 1-10 in the all-time series.
The Eagles started off strong with a 14-8 run in the opening minutes of the game with three-point baskets from Anderson, Tyler Norris, and Trevon Butler and two free throws from Zach Curran. The Pilgrims fought back with 12-8 run of their own, led by Andrew Haschytz, Dezron Wilson, Frantzy Georges, and CJ Capilets, then the Eagles went on a big run to close out the half and headed into intermission up 53-34.
Anderson, Norris, and Butler led the Eagles with 16, eight, and seven first half points, respectively. Curran led the field with six first half rebounds. Wilson led the Pilgrims with 13 points, and Dondre James and Ricky Leonard each had three rebounds.
In the second half, the Eagles built up their lead to 30 points in the first seven minutes of the half, thanks in part to baskets by Butler, Curran, Anderson, Norris, and Alonzo McCain. Jordon Holmes increased the lead to 38 with less than five remaining with two free throws and cruised the rest of the way for a 106-69 victory.
Anderson finished with two assist, two steals and one rebound to go along with his 20 points, while Butler added 14 points, five rebounds, and seven assists. Curran and Norris contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively to the Husson Offense. Curran recorded a game-high seven boards, while Holmes added 13 and Darryl Wood charted 11 off the bench for the Eagles.
For the Pilgrims, Wilson led all scorers with 30 points while adding five boards and two steals. Capilets contributed 10 points, and Jake Vickery recorded eight points off the bench.
Husson will return to the court in 2016 when they play the host school Springfield College in the Hampton Inn West Springfield / Naismith Classic in a 5:30 PM contest on January 2. NEC will host Norwich on January 2 with a 1:00 p.m. tipoff.
