Victoria McIntyre scored a team high 18 points to lead the Eagles to their first win of the young season. The Eagles first half full court pressure proved too much for Umaine Farmington as they would cruise to a 56-73 victory. With the loss UMF is now (1-4) while Husson improves to (1-1)
Husson would never trail in the game. Chandler Guerrette would score 7 out of her 15 points in the 1st Quarter to help the Eagles jump out to a 11-19 lead after one quarter of play.
The Eagles built a cushion in the 2nd quarter, scoring 23 points while holding Umaine Farmington to only 9. Husson forced 14 turnovers in the first half, largely in part to their aggessive defense. Victoria McIntyre would score 8 of her team high 18 points in the quarter to help push the halftime lead to 20-42.
Umaine Farmington came out of the lockeroom determined, while Husson would record their worst 12 minutes of the game. UMF out shot Husson 53.8% to 21.1% as well as out rebounding them 14-4. Farmingtons Meghan Smith lead the team, scoring 9 points while adding 4 rebounds in the quarter.
Husson found themselves up by 10 at the start of the 4th before Victoria McIntyre's five straight points, including a triple with 7:39 remaining pushing their lead back to fifteen. Umaine Farmington would chip into the lead once more and get within ten on a Kennadi Grover jumper with 4:36 remaining. Husson would score the next ten points to help put the game out of reach.
Husson's Kenzie Worcester finished with 15 points going 7-10 from the field. Victoria McIntyre also lead the team in rebounding, grabbing 6 boards 5 of those offensive end.
Meghan Smith lead the Beavers with a game high 21 points and a game high 12 boards. Kennadi Grover added 13 points.
The Husson Eagles next game is Saturday, November 5th as they take on Maine Maritime at 1 p.m, followed by the Husson Men at 3 p.m.
