BANGOR, Maine - Husson surrendered four first-half goals in a 5-1 loss to Colby (Maine) on Wednesday evening inside Winkin Sports Complex. Despite the loss, the Eagles outshot the Mules 19-15.
Colby (6-4) scored the first three goals, starting in the 13th minute when Megan Fortier found the back of the cage with an assist by Hannah Hearn. Becca Moore (1) and Eleanor Fitzgerald (1) each scored their first goals this year in the 19th and 22nd minutes, respectively.
Husson (3-6) got on the scoreboard in the 31st minute when Lauren Russell (3) put back a rebound after a Taylor Lovley shot.
However, the Mules pushed the difference back to three goals in the 35th minute when McKayla Blanch (3) scored.
Hearn and Anna Rudinski each had an assist as Fortier (10) struck again in the 56th minute for the final tally.
Fortier ended with four shots, including two on goal.
Lovley had six shots with four on goal. Mikayla Toth had five shots, including three on goal.
Sarah Evans (6-4) played the first half and recorded five saves. Riley Whitmyer spent the second half in net and also made five saves.
Anne Marie Provencal (1-3) made six saves in the loss.
Husson travels to New England (N.H.) on Saturday, Oct. 10, for a 1 p.m. ET start.
