Box Score BANGOR, Maine - Husson scored three first-half goals Saturday evening en route to a 3-1 win over Johnson State (Vt.) in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action at Boucher Field. The Eagles win their fifth-straight over the Badgers and are unbeaten in the last six matchups. The Green and Gold have won eight-straight home matches and are 4-0 at Boucher Field this year.
"We asked the team to give us a reaction after last Saturday's performance, and they did tonight," Husson coach Jeff Gettler said.
Jimmy Fitzpatrick (1) scored first for Husson (5-3, 2-1) in the 20th minute off assists by Cam Libbey and Stephen Berenyi. Brady White (1) made the score 2-0 in the 36th minute on a header off a Dylan Wetmore corner kick. Mike Curtis (2) increased the margin to three goals one minute later with aid by Josh Bean.
"I thought in the first half we were very, very good," Gettler commented. "We were very intense. We put them under pressure all the time and pretty much dominated the midfield and really took over the game."
Johnson State (2-7, 1-3 NAC) scored its lone goal 30 seconds before halftime when Akeem Pottinger found the back of the net on a Dominic Caforia cross into the box.
Husson outshot Johnson State 34-11 and held a 10-1 edge in corner kicks.
"We got almost 10 new players in the game after halftime," Gettler remarked. "I'm happy we played everyone, and we'll have a lot of energy left for tomorrow."
Goalkeeper Steven Paquette (2-1) made three saves in the win.
Netminder Alex Pakatar (2-7) recorded 13 saves in 87:08 before picking up a red card. Sean Springer played the final 2:52 in net in the loss.
