Weston, Mass. - Husson University men's swimming & diving opened up the 2015-16 season with a dual meet lost at Regis College. The Pride men defeated the Eagles, 128-78.
For the Eagles, James Nealey won the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24.18 and Matt Carter and Josh DeNicola had the two top times in the 100 yard individual medley with a 1:13.99 and 1:31.71. The 200 yard freestyle relay foursome of Colin Vidas, Grant Gerber, Nealey and Caelan Lecrone added a win with a time of 1:41.08.
For Regis, their men's team also started off fast with a win in the 200 yard medley relay as Cassidy Bastianelli, Lawrence Reynolds, Nick Rainville and Robert Ekberg posted a time of 1:48.93. Rainville posted the top time in the 200 yard freestyle (1:56.19) and 50 yard butterfly (24.96), while Cassidy Bastianelli added a win in the 100 yard backstroke (1:00.01).
Bryan Johnson had a strong day in the pool with wins in the 50 yard breaststroke (30.40) and 100 yard freestyle (51.62). Kiet Luong (Malden, Mass.) had the top time in the 50 yard backstroke (29.34) as well as the 100 yard butterfly (1:00.72). Joshua Unas won the 100 yard breastroke (1:06.19), and Michael Bruno added a win in the 500 yard freestyle.
The Green and Gold return to the pool, this coming Friday when the host the Monks from Saint Joseph's for their home dual meet opener starting at 6:00 p.m.
