Box Score HENNIKER, NH – Raheem Anderson (Miramar, FL) nailed a late three-pointer to propel the Husson University men's basketball team to an 82-79 win over New England College on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles improve to 12-2 overall and 8-0 in NAC play while NEC falls to 7-8 and 4-4.
After NEC got within 77-76 with two minutes left, Anderson converted the trifecta with 1:34 remaining. The Pilgrims answered with a three of their own, and had a chance to take the lead, but Jacob Moore (Hampden, ME) grabbed the rebound off a three-point attempt and Trevon Butler (Westbury, CT) made two free throws with 12 seconds left to seal the win.
The Pilgrims were clinging to a 70-65 lead with just over six minutes to go, but the Eagles scored six out of the next seven points and knotted the game at 71 on an Aaron Willis (New York, NY) free throw with 3:48 left.
The teams exchanged points until Anderson was able to sink the three and Butler converted the free throws.
Husson had a one-point lead of 39-38 at halftime courtesy of Butler's 12 points and Willis' seven points and four assists.
Butler finished with a double-double with 27 points and 11 rebounds while Anderson added 21. Moore had 10 points while Willis had nine points and six assists.
Ryan Schmitz led NEC with 20 points.
Husson shot 40.0 percent for the game while NEC shot 49.2 percent. The Pilgrims had the rebounding edge 40-35.
Husson returns to action on Friday when the Eagles host Johnson State at 7:30 p.m.
