Box Score BANGOR, ME – Cam Libbey's (Hampden, ME) goal in the seventh minute proved to be the game-winner as the Husson University men's soccer team defeated Colby-Sawyer 2-0 on Saturday evening at Boucher Field. Husson improves to 4-3-0 overall and 1-0-0 in North Atlantic Conference play while Colby-Sawyer falls to 3-3-1 and 0-1-0 in league play.
Libbey took a cross from a streaking Phil Frost (Bangor, ME), who was running down the right flank, and hit the ball to the lower right corner as the goalie was coming across to notch the game's first goal.
Martin Lidholm (Stockholm, Sweden) netted the game-clincher in the 79th minute as there was a ball served in the box and chaos ensued, but Lidholm was able to connect and get it by the keeper. Josh Bean (Ellsworth, ME) and Frost assisted on the goal.
Brian Potter (Waterville, ME) notched eight saves for his second shutout of the season.
Nick Austin notched six saves in net for Colby-Sawyer.
"This is a great league-opening performance," said Husson head coach Jeff Gettler. "Colby-Sawyer is a tough opponent that has improved a lot and has a great coach. We had a great defensive effort especially by our backs and midfielders. We had two great goals and I'm very pleased with how we played."
The Eagles return to the field on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Lyndon State.
