Box Score BANGOR, ME - The Husson University men's soccer team fell in a hard fought contest to Colby 2-1 on Wednesday evening at Boucher Field. Husson falls to 2-3-0 on the season while Colby goes to 2-1-0.
The Mules got on the board first in the 40th minute when Tim Stanton hit a cross from the right to left that Brandon Fahlberg ran onto and headed by Husson goalkeeper Brian Potter (Waterville, ME).
Stephen Berenyi (Levant, ME) would knot the game up for the Eagles when he volleyed home a cross from Josh Bean (Ellsworth, ME) in the 62nd minute.
Colby would net the game-winner in the 87th minute when Matt Ayers found Charlie Dupree and he hit a low shot that snuck by Potter.
"We came out slow and Colby was very sharp in the first half," said Husson head coach Jeff Gettler. "After Colby's goal, all we needed was one good play and willed ourselves back in the game with the goal. We lost a tackle and Colby scored off it. We had a chance to win but Colby played very well and we have to learn from this."
Potter finished with eight saves while Colby goalkeeper Cody Funkhouser made four stops.
The men's soccer team continues play on Sunday at Saint Joseph's.
