Bangor, ME – Husson University men's basketball faced one of its biggest North Atlantic Conference foes of the 2013-14 season as the team took on Lyndon State on Friday night at Newman Gymnasium. Husson kept up the defensive pressure and offensive hot streak in the second half to extend its lead to 66-38 in the opening five minutes. The Eagles maintained around a 20 point lead throughout the second half, seeing exceptional play from Butler, Cottonham, Brooks Spaulding (Fairfield, ME), Phil Leighton (Naples, ME), and Dan Fleming (Fairfield, ME), who all ended in double scoring figures. Butler finished with a double-double on the night, scoring 17 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Husson also saw big contributions from its bench and shot 54.5 percent as a team in the second half.

Woodruff was the high-scorer for Lyndon State with a game-high 19 points. Teammate Johnson chipped in 17, and Alers added 13. Carle had 10 rebounds on the night.

Husson head coach Warren Caruso said of the win, "We played with good purpose tonight, and it is always good to win 20 games in the regular season. We still have a lot of work to do, and we need to finish of the weekend tomorrow."

Lyndon State will travel to Castine on Saturday to face NAC opponent Maine Maritime Academy. Husson will host Johnson State on Saturday at a revised time of 4:30 PM.
