Box Score New London, NH -- The Husson University volleyball team saw its season come to a close in the North Atlantic Conference tournament semifinals Friday night. The Eagles (9-22, #3 seed NAC) fell in straight sets against the 2-seed Maine Maritime Academy Mariners (25-11, 25-23, 25-12).
MMA (16-14) was paced by Gillian O'Neal with 16 kills, 11 digs, and three service aces. Sydney Robertson put away 11 kills for the Mariners, while Betsy Trenckmann dished out 31 assists and Samantha Ryan tallied 11 digs.
Husson was led by senior Alexandra deHertogh (Cumberland, RI) with five kills and two aces for the match. Kaitlyn Carl (East Machias, ME) notched four kills with a team-high three aces for the Eagles, while Bailey Cote (BIddeford, ME) also had four kills.
Marissa Johnson (Russell, NY) put together a solid match for Husson, posting team-highs in assists (12) and digs (8). Emma Plouffe (Frankfort, NY) chipped in with three kills for the Eagles, while second team All-NAC member Sarah Wilson (Dover, NH) collected seven digs.
"Overall, it was a good season," Husson coach Jodie Fairbank said after the match. "We only graduate one (deHertogh). This team is very young, and they have gained valuable experience to bring into next season."
