Bangor, ME - Husson men's swimming and diving hosted their first home event of the 2014-15 season, a dual meet with the St. Joseph's College of Maine Monks on Saturday. The Monks were victorious in the encounter, defeating the Eagles 127-97.
For the Eagles, Grant Gerber (Portland, ME) won the 50 Yard Breaststroke in a time of 30.07. Tim Smith (Bangor, ME) scored 162.65 and 250.1 to take first in both of the 1 Meter Diving events.
In an exciting finale to the day, the Husson 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team of Gerber, James Nealey (Northport, ME), Evan Hazelton (Auburn, ME), and Lou DeLima (Hampden, ME) won by two-tenths of a second with a time of 1:38.6.
The Monks were led to victory by junior Alex Gilvey (Windham, Maine), who topped the field in the 200-Free (1:57.33), 500-Free (5:28.70) and 100-IM (1:00.05) events, and senior Preston Bowden (Biddeford, Maine), who won the 50-Back (28.43), 50-Free (24.36) and 100-Free (53.96) events.
Husson will next travel to compete against the University of New England on November 15.
