Box Score Machias, ME – The Husson University volleyball team went into Tuesday's non-conference match with the University of Maine-Machias Clippers looking to right the ship after dropping two tough North Atlantic Conference matches over the weekend. Husson was also looking to sweep the season series with the Clippers, having won a tough four-set meeting on September 23.
The Eagles were able to accomplish both of those goals, as they came away with a three-set sweep of UMM (25-23, 25-15, 25-22).
Husson improves to 6-18 overall with the win (0-2 NAC), while the Clippers dropped to 3-14 with the loss.
Bailey Cote (Biddeford, ME) led the Eagles attack with six kills on just nine attempts, while also tallying two solo blocks and one service ace. Shannon Tallon (Norfolk, CT) matched Cote's kill total with six of her own, while also putting up a solo block.
Kaitlyn Carl (East Machias, ME) contributed four kills, six digs, and two aces for Husson, while Alexandra deHertogh (Cumberland, RI) posted three kills, six digs, and an ace as well. Nia Arranaga (San Jose, CA) and Kristen Atwood (Cumberland, ME) each notched two kills, and they were both effective with the serve as Atwood totaled four aces with Arranaga adding three of her own.
Ryan Hood (Princeton, ME) and Kayla Hannon (Salem, NH) split the setting duties for the Eagles, with Hood handing out 12 assists and Hnanon adding 11. Libero Sarah Wilson (Dover, NH) paced the Husson defense with 15 digs on the night.
The Eagles will be back in action on Thursday (October 9) when they host the University of Southern Maine Huskies at 7 pm at the Newman Gymnasium.
