Weston, MA - Husson University men's swimming and diving opened up the 2014-15 season with a dual meet at Regis College.
For the Eagles, Grant Gerber (Portland, Maine) won the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.04. The 200 yard freestyle relay foursome of Lou DeLima (Hampden, Maine), James Nealey (Northport, Maine), Nathan Whewell (Colchester, Conn.) and Gerber added a win with a time of 1:40.81.
Regis, who won the meet 125-44, saw its 200 yard medley relay team of Cassidy Bastinelli (Newton, Mass.), A.J. Graf (Newton, Mass.), Nicholas Rainville (Reading, Mass.) and Robert Ekberg (Northbridge, Mass.) swim to a top time of 1:47.96. Michael Bruno (Winthrop, Mass.) added wins in the 1,000 yard freestyle (11:36.75) and 500 yard freestyle (5:44.19).
Kiet Luong (Malden, Mass.) began his sophomore campaign with wins in the 200 yard freestyle (2:03.34) and 50 yard backstroke (26.03). A.J. Graf had wins in the 50 yard breaststroke (29.81), 50 yard freestyle (22.76), and 100 yard freestyle (50.83). Rookie Nicholas Rainville won the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.93, with Bastinelli winning the 100 yard backstroke at 1:02.37.
Regis returns to the pool next Saturday when they host the University of New England in a meet starting at 1:00 p.m. Husson will host St. Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday, November 1, at 12:00 p.m.
