Box Score Farmington, ME – Husson University field hockey team shut out the University of Maine – Farmington 4-0 on Saturday afternoon in Farmington. With the win, the Eagles improve to 5-6 overall and 3-0 in North Atlantic Conference play. The Beavers fall to 6-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
Elizabeth Terry (Lebanon, ME) scored her first goal of the season in the 19th minute of play after an assist from Olivia Plaisted (Hampden, ME)). The Eagles extended the lead as Melissa Souza (East Bridgewater, MA) found the back of the cage on an assist from Mikayla Toth (Skowhegan, ME) in the 24th minute. Both goals came off penalty corners.
Sarah Eastman (Dexter, ME) extended the lead to 3-0 in the 63rd minute as Taylor Lovley (Newport, ME) registered the assist. Lovley would score a goal of her own in the 68th minute, marking her sixth of the season.
Kaitlin Dolloff (Richmond, RI) made one save and improves to 5-5 on the season. Patricia Smith made 10 saves and falls to 6-4.
With the win, the Eagles take top position in the North Atlantic Conference.
"Grass is not our strong suit but we were able to execute our game plan. I couldn't have asked for anything more. Big defensive effort by Annika Durrell (Livermore, ME), and strong attack led by Elizabeth Terry and Sarah Eastman", said Coach Hoeppner after the victory.
Husson returns to the field on Tuesday for a 4:00pm game at Endicott.
