Bangor, ME – Husson women's basketball hosted the University of Southern Maine Huskies on Tuesday night at Newman Gymnasium. The Eagles (3-6, 2-2 North Atlantic Conference) dropped a 74-46 non-conference result to the Huskies (8-4).

Erin McNamara (West Newbury, MA) led the Huskies with an impressive 29 points on the day. She also added five assists, three rebounds, and two steals. Gretchen Anderson (Kittery Point, ME) scored 14 on the day, grabbed four rebounds, and dished out two assists. For the Eagles, Rebecca Young (Concord, VT) led the team with 10 points, four rebounds, and an assist. Samira Cruz (Orlando, FL) was the next highest scorer for Husson with eight points.

The game started off close, as the teams found themselves tied at 4-4 off a Young basket for the Eagles. USM pulled away to 10-4, but Husson closed the gap to 10-8. USM next went on a seven point run to lead, 17-8, and held a double-digit lead until 28-20. The Huskies pulled away again throughout the rest of the half and led 40-24 at the break. McNamara led USM with 14 points in the first half, and Anderson put up 11 of her own. Megan Pelletier (Winslow, ME) had four rebounds for the Huskies. Young put up a team-high eight points for Husson in the opening half.

In the second half, USM continued to pull away, starting off with an eight point run to lead 48-24, driven by a solid effort from McNamara. The senior guard scored 15 second half points to pace the Huskies. Husson got no closer than 18 points for the rest of the game, and USM ended up winning 74-46.

Husson will be back in action on Saturday as the team resumes NAC play at Maine Maritime in a 3:00 PM game. USM will also resume conference play on Saturday, as they host UMass-Dartmouth at 1:00 PM.
