Brunswick, ME - The Husson University women's basketball team traveled to Bowdoin for a non-conference game on Tuesday night. The Polar Bears never trailed en route to a 85-50 win at Morrell Gymnasium.

The Polar Bears closed out their non-conference slate with a win thanks to 51% shooting for the game, including 10-17 (58%) from three-point range. Ranked 19th in the latest d3hoops.com poll, Bowdoin improves to 17-2 on the year. Husson falls to 8-8.

For the Eagles, Samira Cruz led the team with 15 points. Rebecca Young (Concord, VT) put up eight more for the visitors. Victoria McIntyre (Mars Hill, ME) grabbed a team-high five rebounds.

Fourteen different players scored for Bowdoin in the win, led by 12 points from Allie Piscina and 11 from Selena Lorrey as the Bowdoin bench accounted for 59 points. Sara Binkhorst added 10 for the Polar Bears. 

Both teams scuffled in the early going before Bowdoin scampered on a 13-4 run to open the contest. The Polar Bears quickly pushed the lead to double-digits, holding a 44-29 lead at intermission and pushing the lead to as many as 40 points in the second half.

Bowdoin held a 38-31 edge in rebounding and kept Husson to 32% shooting from the field while forcing 23 turnovers.

Husson will host Castleton on Friday (5:30 p.m.) in an important North Atlantic Conference match-up, and then will host Green Mountain (1 p.m.) on Saturday. The Polar Bears will host a weekend of NESCAC action this Friday against Trinity (6 p.m.) and Saturday against Amherst (2 p.m.).
