Men's Soccer Unable to Come Back From Early Deficit

Box Score

Babson Park, MA - Husson men's soccer fell to Babson College Saturday afternoon 2-1.

The Beavers struck first with two early goals from Peter Van Noppen and Bryan Rust to put themselves up 2-0. The Eagles countered early in the second half when Joshua Bean (Ellsworth, ME) set up Stephen Berenyi (Levant, ME) for his first goal of the season in the 46th minute.

Husson was able to create a number of scoring opportunities and although the shot total was in favor of Babson the Eagles were able to hold them scoreless for the rest of the game and minimize their scoring opportunities.

"A really good performance for us today, coming off a disappointing game yesterday. We gave up two restart goals in the first half just from being tired and not being organized enough. We came back and scored an unbelievable cracker of a goal from Bereyni early in the second half and just made it a crazy game. We really had chances to tie it to up and really get after them," said Head Coach Jeff Gettler, "The guys put in a fantastic performance tonight. It was a great game. Although we lost I could not have been happier or more proud of the guys and their performance today."

Husson's Brian Potter (Waterville, ME) had 13 saves in the loss.

The Eagles finish up their first road trip of the season and fall to 0-2. They will host the Husson University New Balance Challenge Cup next weekend starting next Friday, September 6th. Husson will face Gordon College at 7:30 PM and Southern Maine Saturday, September 7th also at 7:30 PM.
