Box Score Bangor, ME - Colby (8-14, 1-7 NESCAC) used a balanced attack to overcome the Husson Eagles (7-12, 7-6 NAC) in a nonconference match on Tuesday night in Newman Gymnasium. The Mules had three players score in double figures—Desi Smith (Watertown, WI) with 13 and Carylanne Wolfington (Hallowell, MA) and Diana Manduca (Portland, ME) with 11—in their winning effort.
Stephanie Comstock (Bangor, ME) had a huge game for the Eagles, and scored 24 of the team's 48 points, including 15 points in the second half. Comstock shot 8 for 15 on field goals and 8 for 12 on field goals and drove Husson's offense. Victoria McIntyre (Mars Hill, ME) and Rebecca Young (Concord, VT) each chipped in with 8 points for Husson. Colby's Brooke Chandor (Barrington, IL) and Jayde Bennett (Lynn, MA) had a game-high 6 rebounds along with Husson's Kelli Murray (Shawmut, ME).
Colby took a small lead in the first half at 6-3 and built it up to 31-23 at the break. Husson opened the second half with a 13-3 run largely in part to 10 points from Comstock. The Eagles saw their first lead at 33-32 on a Comstock jumper, and a field goal from Young brought Husson to a 38-34 lead. From there, it was a back-and-forth game until Colby grabbed the lead at 43-42 and ran away to a 59-48 victory.
Husson will be back in action on Friday against Colby-Sawyer at 7:30 as the Eagles host their final home weekend of NAC play. Colby will also play on Friday as they take on Connecticut College on the road.
