Men's Soccer Remains Undefeated in NAC with Victory over Lyndon

Box Score

Bangor, ME – Husson men's soccer scored two second half goals against Lyndon State, to secure their undefeated record against North Atlantic Conference opponents this season.

The extremely physical match between the NAC rivals saw the first 67 minutes go scoreless with intense back and forth battle. Husson slowly wore down the defense of the Hornets with their persistence and force.

First year Jimmy Fitzpatrick (Houlton, ME) played up a pass from Mike Desmond (Scituate, MA). The ball ricocheted off the hands of Lyndon's outreached goalie and found its way into the back of the net to put the Eagles up 1-0.

In the 84th minute Charles Bujambi (Demorcratic Republic of Congo) shot the ball in the direction of Alain Tuyishime (Rwanda) who then kicked the ball in off his heels with his back turned to the net. With that the Eagles rode out their 2-0 victory.

"It was a good job tonight by the team we are in league play so it is about getting a result. We did a great job getting a shut out and limiting their chances. I didn't see the final statistics but I think we had the most shots we've had all year," said Head Coach Jeff Gettler, " I don't think we passed the ball well today and that's something we've been doing better and better. The effort they put in was tremendous, so I am hoping we can come out tomorrow and play a little better soccer but get a result again."

Brian Potter (Waterville, ME) was strong in net for the Eagles, stopping all 5 shots he faced, earing the win. Jason Marks earned the loss with 3 saves.

The Eagles improve to 3-4-3 overall and 3-0-2 in the NAC. Husson will host Johnson State at Boucher Field tomorrow at 2:30 PM.
