Football Defeats Anna Maria 34-15; Rush For 331 Yards

Paxton, MA - Husson Football improved to 3-2 on the 2013 Saturday with a 34-15 Eastern Collegiate Football Conference win over Anna Maria College of Massachusetts. Husson gained 331 yards of offense on the ground on the back of Byron Jackson who racked up his second consecutive 100+ yard game via the run and also scored two touchdowns.

Quarterback Joe Seccareccia gained an even more impressive 133 yards on 17 carries and threw for 76 yards and a touchdown on 10 pass attempts. Husson scored multiple times in the third quarter for the second straight game, and picked up an early 14-0 which they'd never relinquish.

Jackson ran in the games first touchdown at the 9:50 mark of first quarter, giving the Eagles a 7-0 lead on Husson's first drive of the game. Seccareccia and his Eagles needed only three plays on the drive starting at the 10:54 to encompass 96 yards in only 1:04. Seccareccia completed a pass to Josiah Hartley for 34 on the first play from only their own four yard-line. Seccareccia created the next play for Husson rushing for 56 yards to the AMC six that moved forward to the three after an AMCAT unsportsmanlike penalty. Jackson punched in the score on the next play paired with Dennis Meehan's extra point to make it 7-0 in favorite of the visiting Eagles.

Husson kept AMC at bay to close out the first quarter turned the ball over on downs on their first drive of the second, but quickly forced a fumble on the second play of Anna Maria's next drive. Ernest Wiggins caused the fumble and the Eagles took over on the AMC 25. Seccareccia passed to Hartley for two yards and then to Ryan Stroud for 23 and the second Husson score of the game.

Husson jumped out to a 21-0 lead six minutes into the third on a Shabashe McIntosh run for six yards and the score. Seccareccia ran for 25 yards total on the drive and Jackson added two carries of 20 and 26.

The AMCATS put their first points on the board later in the third, scoring on a 54-yard pass from quarterback McGoldrick to William Ricard. 21-7 Husson was the score.

On the very next drive for the visiting Eagles, Jackson punched in his second TD of the day, capping off a 6-play, 59-yard drive to make it 28-7 Husson. Jackson totaled 46 yards on the scoring drive that started near midfield.

Goldrick came right back for AMC and score on the first play from scrimmage on their next drive, passing to Robbert Small for 64 yards. Anna Maria now trailed 28-14.

The only score of the fourth quarter came by way of Kyle McKinnon who rushed for six yards and a score on the final play of a 9-play drive.

Husson, now 3-2 and 2-0 in the ECFC will play at home next saturday vs. Becker college at 1:00pm while AMC travels to Mount Ida for another 1:00 tilt.
