Waterville, ME – Husson women's basketball beat North Atlantic Conference (NAC) rival Thomas on the road on Tuesday, 70-49. The win brings Husson to 2-8 (2-4 NAC), while Thomas falls to 3-7 (2-5 NAC).

Kelli Murray (Shawmut, ME), the Eagles' senior guard and captain, led the team with 18 points, 14 of which she scored in the first half. She also registered two rebounds and and four assists. Stephanie Comstock (Bangor, ME) added 12 points and 8 rebounds, and sophomore transfer Hannah Pray (Bradford, ME) also contributed 12 points. Megan Pelletier of the Terriers registered a double-double with a game-high 24 points and 10 rebounds.

Husson outscored Thomas 41-22 in the first half, and the Eagles shot 42% from the field, 50% from behind the arc, and 55.6% from the line on the night. The Eagles also forced 34 Terriers turnovers, scoring 29 points from turnovers, and grabbed 15 team steals.

The Eagles found themselves with a tie game at 10-10 early in the first half, but they went on a 12 point scoring run to pull ahead and raced off to 41-22 by halftime. The second half was more balanced in terms of scoring, but Husson never relinquished the lead, and Thomas never got closer than nine points throughout the half. The Eagles would close on a 19-7 run to seal the victory.

Husson will return to action at home on Friday against NAC opponent Lyndon State at 5:30 PM and on Saturday against Johnson State at 1:00 PM. Thomas will next play Thursday against University of Maine Farmington.
