Box Score Henniker, NH - The Husson Men's basketball team took a big North Atlantic Conference matchup at the hands of New England College Friday evening by a final of 81-56.
Marc Zaharchuk had another impressive performance for the Eagles off the bench, scoring a game-high 16 points in 14 minutes of play. The senior center went 4-7 from the floor, a solid 8-9 from the charity stripe, five rebounds and two helpers.
Husson squandered a double-digit early first half lead, to allow the home team Pilgrims back in the game. NEC closed the final five minutes of the first on a 10-4 run, to close within three at 38-35 at halftime.
Although the 'Grims took a brief lead just over a minute into the second frame, but it was short lived as the Eagles dominated second half play outscoring NEC 43-21. Husson also held the rebounding advantage in the second, grabbing 27 boards to NEC's 12 and an overall total of 49.
Of the win, head coach Warren Caruso said: "Today we played good purpose for most of the game. We need to build on this win moving forward and continue to improve our consistency over 40 minutes."
Husson has a quick turnaround as they travel to New London, New Hampshire on Saturday to take on the Chargers of Colby-Sawyer College. The women tip at 1:00 and the men at 3:00.
