Box Score Bangor, ME- Husson Men's Basketball swept the season series against NAC opponent Thomas College Saturday afternoon at Newman Gym. The Eagles cracked the 100 point mark for the first time this season winning 102-80.
In an extremely physical game the score hung at 6-4 in favor of Thomas for a few early minutes before Husson started to pull ahead and eventually grew their lead to 47-37 heading into the half. Wes Murphy (Norwich, CT) came up huge with a 4-point play after sinking a 3-pointer, being fouled and making the free throw. That play swung the momentum in favor of Husson for good.
The Eagles continued their dominance in the second half of the game scoring 55 points to the Terriers 43. Brooks Spaulding (Fairfield, ME) scored a game high 21 points with 4 rebounds, in 15 minutes of play. Eric Modica (Kittery, ME) added 17 of his own points, 9 rebounds, and two steals in 29 minutes.
Husson's bench continues to put up huge numbers, Marc Zaharchuk (Richmond, ME) put up 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Phil Leighton (Naples, ME) added 12 points, 4 rebounds and 1 steal.
Stanley Green Jr. (Dorchester, MA) was the high scoring Terrier of the afternoon with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals in 20 minutes. Levi Barnes (Skowhegan, ME) chipped in with 13 points and 2 rebounds in 23 minutes of play.
Husson improves to 10-5 on the season, 8-2 in North Atlantic Conference play. The Eagles will travel to Colby College Thursday January 24, for a 7:00 PM non-conference match up.
