Husson Wins Overtime Thriller at Farmington

Box Score

Farmington, ME - Junior Forward Stephanie Comstock poured in a game-high 22 points on 12 of 16 shooting from the line en route to a big North Atlantic Conference overtime win vs. U. Maine Farmington Thursday night. Husson outscored the Beavers 8-6 in overtime to seal the win and improve to 5-4 in the NAC.

Husson looked to control the game early, pulling out to a 15-4 lead within the first eight minutes. Farmington closed the gap minutes later on a Kenni Norton three to make it 19-17 and the game went scoreless for the next two minutes.

Farmington used a very balanced attack, managing 29 points off the bench and two starters scoring double figures. Lindsay Ranquist lead UMF scorers with 13 and three rebounds and Kenni Norton had 12 points of her own with four rebounds, three assists and four steals. Farmington lead at the half 27-26.

The game continued deadlocked the rest of the way with neither side holding more than a five point lead, which UMF held at the 11:19 mark at 42-37. Norton put her mark on the game once again with nine seconds left, hitting a huge three to tie the game. Husson outscored UMF overall in the second, however, to send the game to overtime.

Holly Oliver netted two free-throws seconds into the extra period to take a 59-57 lead. Kelli Murray added a free-throw of her own for Husson over two minutes later to cut the Farmington lead to 59-58. Victoria McIntyre scored moments later for Husson first lead of overtime 60-59.

Chrissy Larrabee and Murray added the next two baskets for the Eagles to take a three-point, 64-61 lead with less than a minute to go. Ranquist hit a pair of free-throws with five seconds left to pull within one, but Comstock put away another foul shot after being fouled on the ensuing rebounding action to garnish the 65-63 win.

With the win the Eagles improve to 5-9 overall and 5-4 in NAC play and Farmington falls to the same exact records.

The Eagles will be back in action this Saturday at home vs. Thomas at 3:00pm as tonight's game marks the halfway point in the NAC schedule.
