Box Score Bangor, ME – The Husson women's basketball team is on a roll this week. The Eagles picked up their third straight win and fourth North Atlantic Conference (NAC) win of the season against Johnson State on Saturday afternoon in Newman Gymnasium. Husson (4-8 overall, 4-4 NAC) saw four players score in double figures as they routed Johnson State (2-12, 0-8 NAC) by a score of 78-66.
Stephanie Comstock (Bangor, ME) had another big game for the Eagles on the weekend, scoring a game-high 25 points and shooting 55% from the field and 60% from the free throw line. First year Victoria McIntyre (Mars Hill, ME) scored 17 for the Eagles, shooting an impressive 53% from the field and matching Comstock with 6 rebounds. Kelli Murray (Shawmut, ME) added 13 Husson points, and Chrissy Larrabee (Brooks, ME) put up 10 points and a game-high 9 rebounds for Husson.
The Badgers had three players put up big numbers, but it wasn't enough to overcome Husson. Lazrin Schenck (Shelburne, VT) scored 17 points, Brittany Robertson (Burlington, VT) had 13, and Mary Richardson (Vernon, VT) added 12.
Husson grabbed the lead early and never looked back. The Eagles led by 12 points (21-9) 7 minutes into the first half, thanks in part to 6 Comstock and 7 McIntyre points. The Badgers chipped away at the lead, coming within 3 points with 2 minutes left in the half, but the Eagles headed into halftime up by 6.
Johnson State found themselves in a close match again at 45-42 three minutes into the second half, but Husson went on a 26-9 scoring run to gain a 20 point lead at 71-51 with just over four minutes remaining. The Eagles closed it out on a Briana Austin (Pembroke, NH) free throw to win 78-66.
Johnson will be back in action on Thursday, January 17 at Castleton State, and Husson will host non-conference Bowdoin College on Tuesday, January 15 at 7:00 PM.
