Husson Remains Undefeated in North Atlantic Conference Play With Win Over Lyndon State

Box Score

LYNDON CENTER, VT – First Year Hannah Clough (Mount Vernon, ME) and Junior Kelsey Brangiel (Newmarket, NH) scored two goals each to lead Husson to a 4-1 win over Lyndon Sunday in North Atlantic Conference women's soccer action.

Clough opened the scoring 10:44 into the contest when she took a through ball from Senior Kayleigh Piccirillo (Walpole, NH) and drilled a shot into the lower left corner of the net behind Hornet goalie Dannika Dobrowski. Lyndon Senior Emily Strese tied the score at 1-1 on a penalty kick at the 32:28 mark to bring Lyndon even.

Brangiel scored what proved to be the game-winning goal early in the second half with an unassisted tally from the right wing, and Clough upped the advantage to two goals 15 minutes later with a nifty unassisted goal that saw her beat three Lyndon defenders before punching home a shot from 10 meters out.

Brangiel would close out the scoring in the contest at 71:26 by tucking a shot underneath the cross bar off an assist from Junior Becca Jones (Newmarket, NH).

Eagles' starting goalkeeper Jess Poulin (Albion, ME) teamed with First Year Anna Wolterbeek (Wells, ME) to make one save in the game while Dobrowski turned aside two shots in the loss. Husson outshout Lyndon 9-6 in the contest and held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.

"Lyndon was competitive with us in the first half, but we were able to pull ahead in the second. Kelsey and Hannah made their mark on the game scoring two goals each." Said Coach Carly Gettler after the match, "And a lot of different players deserve credit for stepping up and making good things happen this weekend."

With the victory, the Eagles improve to 4-8 overall and a perfect 4-0 in conference. Next up for the lady Eagles they will play Bates College at home on Wednesday, October 3rd at 7:00PM. And on Saturday October 6th they will travel to New England College to play at 1:00PM.
