Box Score Bangor, ME- The Husson Eagles volleyball team surpassed the .500 mark for the first time this season after taking down U-Maine Farmington in four sets 25-11, 25-22, 18-25, and 25-16. The Eagles now hold a 6-5 overall record, and have yet to play a match in conference.
Senior Hannah Olstad (Farmington, NH) led the way for the Eagles by racking up 13 kills, four service aces, and two solo blocks for the match. Most of those kills came off assists from setter Aleta Johnson (Milton, NH) who dished out a match-high 26 helpers.
Husson took charge early on, going up 8-0 in the first game and never looking back.
Farmington put up a strong fight in the second game, led by the serving of Marina Tello (San Antonio, TX) and hitting of Nicole Osborne (Calais, ME). But the Eagles were too much for the Beavers and grabbed a 2-0 advantage.
Game 3 went to Farmington as they got solid play of of middle hitter Jen Vadnais (Arundel, ME) and Jordan Hohman (Naples, ME) and were able to force a fourth set.
The Eagles proved to be too much again for the Beavers in game four, as Olstad put away six of her match-high 13 kills to help wrap up the victory.
Michelle Smith (New Boston, NH) totaled seven kills and two aces for the Eagles, while Johnson posted four kills and 12 digs to go along with her 26 assists.
Vadnais and Osborne had nine and eight kills respectively to lead UMF, while Whitney Walls (Bar Harbor, ME) totaled 14 assists. Tello was impressive for the Beavers defensively with 14 digs to go along with six service aces.
Husson's next match will be Tuesday 9/25 at the University of Southern Maine at 7 PM.
