Box Score Bangor, ME- Husson Men's Soccer scored 3 unanswered points to shut out Colby College Mules 3-0 Wednesday evening at Boucher Field.
Husson pressured the net early, finally netting a goal in the 27th minute when sophomore Vinny Visconti scored unassisted. Not too soon after sophomore Brian Loiselle scored off a James Crockford pass at 28:38 into the 1st half.
The scoring didn't end for the Eagles in the first half; James Crockford netted a goal of his own in the 88th minute off a pass from first year Cam Libbey.
Senior Mason Smith had an outstanding game in net for the Eagles saving 4 shots. Luck was definitely on the side with the Eagles in this one as three huge opportunities for the Mules bounced off the post just out of Smith's reach.
Sophomore Phil Frost had 5 shots, 2 of which were on goal. Senior James Crockford had 4 shots, 1 on net in the win. The Husson men totaled for 15 shots, 8 on goal.
Colby senior Andrew Meisel shot 5 times getting 2 on net for the Mules. Sophomore goalkeeper Cody Funkhouser had 5 saves.
"I was really proud of the guys tonight. We are trying to establish a mentality for our team, in terms of the intensity that we bring to the field especially at home and tonight we did that." Said Coach Jeff Gettler after the game.
