Box Score Waterville, ME – The Husson University women's basketball team lost a tought match up with Colby College by a score of 71-43 at Wadsworth Gymnasium Tuesday night. Colby improves to 16-5 on the season with the non-conference victory while the Eagles fall to 10-10 in the defeat.
For the Eagles, Stephanie Comstock (Bangor, ME) held her own inside despite a tough defensive matchup, scoring 14 points and narrowly missing the double-double with nine boards to lead the team. Husson point guard Amanda Gifford (Lee, ME) was all over the court, dishing out six dimes and pulling down as many rebounds.
Colby senior forward Jil Vaughn (Wareham, MA) led all scorers with a double-double, scoring 19 while hauling in a game-high 12 rebounds. Fellow seniors and Mule captains Rachel Mack (Augusta, ME) and Aarika Ritchie (Lee, ME) also found themselves with double figures in the scoring column with 12 and 11 points respectively. Dianna Manduca (Portland, ME) was the facilitator on the evening, serving up seven assists in the game.
Husson will resume their North Atlantic Conference (NAC) schedule with an important matchup against Colby-Sawyer at 5:30 pm on Friday in New London, NH, and the Eagles will also travel to New England College on Saturday for a 1:00 pm start. Colby will return to New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play this weekend, when they put their 5-3 conference record to the test, hosting the Camels of Connecticut College at 7:00 pm before welcoming Wesleyan University to Waterville at 2:00 pm on Saturday.
