Box Score Bangor, ME – The Husson University
men's basketball team pulled out an impressive win Friday
night in their second-to-last home regular season contest. The
Eagles' Luis Medina led all scorers with 19 points dishing
out a game high six assists as well.
Husson and Johnson played tightly during the first four minutes,
playing to a 7-7 tie. Half a minute later Medina drained a deep
three and the Eagles never relinquished the lead the rest of the
way. Starting with the Medina three, Husson went on a 12-0 run,
capped off by a Mike Gonzales layup at the 12:05 mark.
Over the next six minutes the Eagles poured in four, three point
shots to extend their lead to 35-15 with six minutes to go in the
first half. The Husson defense kept the Badgers at bay into
intermission holding a 21 point, 47-26 lead at the half.
The Husson bench played well late and pushed the lead to 35,
their largest of the game, with only moments to play and held on
for the 90-58 win.
Andy Bousono contributed 12 points and four assists in the loss
for the Badgers along with eight points and five boards from fellow
starter Alen Turan.
With the win Husson improves to 12-5 in the NAC and a season
best 13-11 overall. Johnson State falls to 5-12 in the NAC and 5-19
overall.
Johnson will travel to Castine to take on Maine Maritime
Saturday the 18th as Husson will host Lyndon State on
Senior Day and the Play 4Kay cancer awareness day Saturday starting
at 3:00pm.
