Box Score Bangor, ME – The Husson University women played a much better second half Thursday at Newman Gymnasium, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Monk's of St. Joseph's College. The Eagles more than doubled their first half total in the second, netting 24 points on way to a 74-35 loss.
Gab Duke led the way for the Eagles, scoring 10 points and grabbing four steals in 28 minutes. Stephanie Comstock scored six and Kelli Murray scored five, respectively.
The first 10 minutes was all St. Joe's, opening up a 16-4 lead. Murray ended the scoring drought for the Eagles moments later, hitting to come within 10.
The Monks had two players score in the high teens in Danyelle Shufelt (17 points) and Morgan Cahill (19 points). SJC just barely bettered the Eagles in the turnover category, causing 20 to their own 17. St. Joe's also had a command on the boards, grabbing 31 total rebounds to Husson's 21.
The Monks proved to be just too much for the young Husson squad, who have only one senior in Murray, two juniors, two sophomores and six first-year players.
The Eagles will hit the hardwood of Newman Gym once again this Saturday at 3:00pm for their alumni game as part of Sports Hall of Fame weekend.
