Box Score Bangor, ME – The Husson women's basketball team was downed Tuesday evening by Bates college of Lewiston 88-43. Allie Beaulieu and Taryn O'Connell led the charge for the Bobcats, scoring 19 points and 18 points in the win. Husson was led by senior Kelli Murray and junior Stephanie Comstock who each had nine.
Bates opened the game on a 25-4 run behind sharp shooting and passing. The Eagles had several attempts at the basket but were unable to capitalize.
Husson forced 17 turnovers on the night, but unfortunately turned over 29 times themselves in the loss.
Beaulieu scored 14 of her game high 19 in the first half, as Bates led 46-16. O'Connell came out of the break on fire, scoring 9 of her 18 points and at one point, hit three straight 15-foot jumpers for maroon and white.
Riley Boyle was the high scorer for Husson in the second half, earning six points on 3-4 shooting in seven minutes.
Overall the Eagles shot 36% from the floor, over 28% from three point land and 65% from the charity stripe. Bates shot an impressive 53% from the floor, 41% from beyond the arc and 85% from the line to round out a very solid stat line.
Husson will take to the court at Newman Gymnasium once again this Thursday as both the women and men take on old rival St. Joe's of Standish, Maine. The women are set to tip at 5:30 and the men at 7:30.
