Box Score HENNIKER, NH- Husson Junior Zach Emeigh netted two goals, including a game winner in overtime to lift the Eagles past New England College 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Both teams remained scoreless in the first half with Sophomore Brian Loiselle (Bangor, ME) providing Husson with their best scoring opportunity in the first 45 minutes, when he struck a pass off a corner kick that fell just wide of the net in the 41st minute.
NEC's Zak Harris (Bennington, VT) netted a free kick rebound from Rob Lucas (Hooksett, NH) putting the Pilgrims up 1-0 in the 60th minute.
Husson would match the score in the 76th minute when Emeigh (Ellsworth, ME) dribbled through two Pilgrim defenders earning his fourth goal of the season.
The score remained 1-1 for the final 14 minutes of regulation forcing overtime. Emeigh came up big once again scoring the game winner 5:30 into the overtime. Emeigh's shot bounced off NEC goal keeper Robert Millar (Barrington, RI) and into the goal.
Husson Sophomore goal keeper Brian Potter (Waterville, ME) earned the win in net with 4 saves.
Coach Jeff Gettler said after the victory, "The TEAM played very well today and showed tremendous character in coming back from 0-1 down to win away and take 3 points home."
With this win the Eagles improve to 7-3 on the season and 4-1 in North Atlantic Conference play. Husson will host Wheaton College Sunday (October 7th) at Boucher Field at 4:00PM.
