Box Score Bangor, ME- Husson Men's Soccer continued their dominance in the NAC by silencing the feet of the Colby-Sawyer Chargers 2-0 Saturday evening in a physical match at Boucher Field.
In a rain soaked afternoon Husson was able to dominate in all facets of the game leading shots 16 to 10 and corner kicks 5 to 2.
Husson Sophomore Phil Frost (Bangor, ME) came up huge once again scoring both goals on the night. His first goal came right before half in the 44th minute of the game when Stephen Berenyi (Levant, ME) and Chris DelGiudice (Oakland, ME) connected their passes to Frost who placed the ball into net.
The second goal of the night came right after the half in the 50th minute when Andrew Austin (Ellsworth, ME) connected his throw in to Frost who headed the ball past the Chargers goalkeeper Sophomore Nick Austin (Westerly, RI).
Husson goalkeeper Brian Potter (Waterville, ME) earned the win stopping all three shots he faced.
Coach Jeff Gettler said after the win, "I thought the guys did a great job closing out league play with a gutsy 2-0 win. It was a great team performance, and now we turn our attention to the NAC playoffs."
The Eagles improve to 12-4-0 on the season overall and 8-1-0 in the NAC. Husson looks to close out their regular season at Rivier this Tuesday (October 23) at 7:00 PM in a non-conference match-up.
Prior to the game Husson honored their Seniors in a Senior Night Ceremony. Each Senior was presented with a framed photograph of themselves taken during their time on the team. Trevor Higgins (Kittery, ME), James Crockford (Watford, England), Taylor Wentworth (Ellsworth, ME) and Mason Smith (Houma, LA) were recognized for their accomplishments.
