Box Score Waterville, ME – The Husson University women's basketball team topped the Terriers of Thomas College 87-48 in a North Atlantic Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon. Husson's Marissa Albert turned in an 18 point performance, going 4-for-8 from three point land, and was perfect from the free throw line going 2-for-2. Thomas' Elizabeth Goodall led the Terriers with a 16 point performance, grabbing three rebounds, and shooting 5-for-6 from the free throw line.
The visiting Eagles improve to 9-7 on the season and maintain first place in the NAC with a record of 9-1. With the loss the Terriers fall to 2-14 on the season and 2-8 in the NAC.
The opening minutes of the first half saw both teams take turns with the lead, but it was the Eagles who took control of the game with 8:44 remaining in the first, when an Amanda Gifford jumper broke the 11-11 tie and started a 15-2 Husson run that put the Eagles up 26-13 with 4:16 left in the half. From there the Eagles were able to cruise to a 35-23 lead at the break.
The second half saw Husson continue to spread out their lead over the host team as four Eagles hit double figures in the win.
The Eagles will return to action on Saturday, January 28th with a 1:00 p.m. match-up at Maine Maritime. The Terriers hit the road next weekend with back to back games in Vermont against NAC opponents Castleton on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Green Mountain on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
