Box Score Waterville, ME – The Husson University men's basketball team won their second matchup of the regular season with Thomas College 82-72 on Saturday afternoon in front of a packed Larry Mahaney Gymnasium. Four Eagles hit double figures but it was Daeshawn McMorrin who led the way for the visitors finishing with a 21 point 13 rebound double-double. Former Husson stand-out and current Terrier Martin Cleveland led all scorers picking up his second double-double in a row with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Cleveland shot 11-for-12 from the field also blocked three Husson shots.
The visiting Eagles pick up their sixth win of the season improving to 6-10 overall and 6-4 in the NAC. With the loss the Terriers fall to 9-6 on the season and are now 6-4 in the North Atlantic Conference.
The Terriers offense got rolling first in the opening half as they jumped out to a early 20-13 lead in the first ten minutes of play. With 4:19 left on the clock a Rob Nutter technical sent Husson's Wes Murphy to the line where he tied the game up at 29 apiece. With 2:46 left to go in the fist Brad Libby stated an 11-2 run that put the Eagles on top 41-32 at the break.
The second half saw the Terriers nip away at the Husson lead thanks in part to Cleveland's impressive play in the paint and Jarrad DeVaughn's 15 point second half. But the Terriers couldn't grab the lead from Husson despite cutting the Eagles lead down to one point twice in the second half.
The Eagles step out of NAC play to take on Bates in an out of conference match-up on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Next up for the Terriers is a trip to Castleton on Friday and then over to Green Mountain on Saturday for two NAC regular season match-up's.
