JOHNSON, VT – Johnson State College was defeated by visiting Husson University on Saturday in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's basketball action by the score of 76-49. The Eagles defense held Johnson to 27% shooting on the day to improve to 7-7, 7-1 NAC while the Badgers dip to 3-11, 1-7 NAC).
Brianna Hanscom (Mattawamkeag, ME) recorded a double-double with game-high's of 20 points and 11 rebounds to spark Husson while sophomore Stephanie Comstock (Bangor, ME) contributed 14 points and eight rebounds. Senior guard Amanda Gifford (Lee, ME) added 11 points and three steals.
The Badgersreceived 19 points and five rebounds from freshman Brittany Robertson (Burlington, VT) and 11 points each from senior guard Andrea Deuell (Milton, VT) and freshman center Madeline Pritchard (North Clarendon, VT) with Deuell adding five assists and four steals.
The Eagles defense held Johnson to just six first-half field goals to earn a 41-17 halftime lead. Husson completed the day with a 46-32 rebounding advantage as well.
Husson moves on from their trip to Vermont to host the University of Maine-Farmington at 7:30 pm on Thursday, January 19th in Bangor. Johnson will play the last game of a four-game home stand on Thursday in the next outing when they host Castleton State College at 7:30 pm.
