Eagles Cruise to Victory

The North Atlantic Conference rivalry between Husson University and the University of Maine at Farmington was alive and well tonight but was upstaged by Husson's honorary captain, Brandon Morris.  Brandon, an 11 year-old a cancer survivor with a passion for basketball, was recognized at halftime as an honorary Eagle.  The Eagles went on to defeat the Beavers 85-65.  With the win Husson improves to 19-5 and maintains the top spot in the NAC.  Maine Farmington falls to 10-13 with the loss.

Daeshawn McMorrin got the Eagles on the scoreboard first with a quick put-back.  Farmington's Dan Kane hit an early jumper to knot the game at 4.  An Eric Modica layup put the Eagles up 41-20 with 4:10 left in the first half.  Farmington's Kane responded with 2:20 left in the game with an inside layup followed by a deep three by Pet Sumner to cut the Eagle lead to 43-28 at the half.  The half would end with a 43-28 Husson advantage.

Husson's Jay Uhrin led all scorers with 13 points, followed by Josh Jones who tallied 10 points and five rebounds.  Maine Farmington's Pet Sumner recorded 8 points on the half while Roy Burdin scored 6.

Husson continued to pull away from Farmington in the second half, ending the game with an 85-60 victory.

Daeshawn McMorrin tallied a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, along with Josh Jones' double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds.  Jay Urin led all scorers with 23 points.

Farmington was led by Pet Sumner who shot 6-9 from the floor and contributed 14 points.  Yusuf Iman tallied 8 points while Dan Kane scored 7 on the game.

Maine Farmington returns to action on February 19 for a 2:00 game.  Husson will host Thomas College on February 19 for a 2:00 tip-off.
