Box Score 2 Farmington, ME - After stringing together six consecutive victories, the Husson volleyball team lost 3 straight, including a pair of North Atlantic Conference contests on Saturday. The Eagles were bested 3-2 (22-25, 23-25, 25-17, 25-22, 15-9) by the host Beavers in a thriller at Dearborn Gymnasium before falling to Colby-Sawyer 3-0 (25-23, 25-15, 25-19) in the conclusion of the double-headder.
UMF 3, Husson 2
Husson led going into the third set and looked to close out the match, but were unable to prevent the Beavers from rallying back to notch a NAC win over the Eagles in the day's first match.
Hannah Olstad (Farmington, NH) posted a match-best 21 kills for Husson with Aleta Johnson (Milton, NH) setting up the attack with 35 assists. The Eagles featured five players in double-digit digs, led by Rachel Voicechovski (Westerly, RI) with 18.
Shannon Mitchell (Portsmouth, NH) powered UMF with 14 kills, six service aces and 23 digs, while Marina Tello (San Antonio, TX) shined with 31 digs. Amanda Mullane(Melrose, MA) also reached double-digit kills with 11 withBridget Flaherty (Plymouth, MA) doling out 28 assists.
Colby Sawyer 3, Husson 0
The first set of the game came right down to the final posessions, but the Chargers were able to wear through the Eagles' resolve, and coast to victory at UMF.
Olstad scored 10 kills for the Eagles with Alex Barner (Woodstock, CT) and Kelsey Burrill (Somersworth, NH) each scooping 10 digs.
Emilee McBride (Strafford, NH) led Colby Sawyer with 13 kills to lead Colby Sawyer to victory over the Eagles in straight sets. Coutrney O'Hara (Mystic, CT) wasn't too far behind with 11 kills. Kristin Sawyer (Walpole, MA) distributed 25 assists for Colby-Sawyer, while Ally Le-Bruno (Medfield, MA) had 13 digs.
The Eagles return to more friendly confines on Tuesday when they host St. Joseph's College at 7:00 pm at the Newman Gymnasium. That is their first of two matches at home this week, as they host Bates at 7:00 pm on Thursday as well.
