Husson Comes Back With Pair of Wins at Lyndon

Lyndon Center, VT - The Eagles volleyball team reversed a difficult trend of eight consecutive losses with 3-0 wins over Lyndon State and Johnson State on the Hornets' home court. Husson improves to 16-11 (4-3) with the wins.

Hannah Olstad (Farmington, NH) led the Eagles with 29 kills in the two matches, while Chelly Smith (New Boston, NH) added 16 kills and 18 digs on the day. Aleta Johnson (Milton, NH) contributed 40 assists in the games combined. 

Husson 3 - Lyndon State 1

Husson University upped its record to 15-11 overall and 3-3 in the North Atlantic Conference with a 3-0 match victory over Lyndon Saturday.

The match was the first of four on the afternoon at Stannard Gymnasium. The Eagles won the match by set scores of 25-14, 25-7 and 25-8.

Hannah Olstad and Chelly Smith led Husson with nine kills each and Olstad added a game-high four blocks. Smith chipped in seven digs, Aleta Johnson had 17 assists and Kelsey Burrill collected five service aces.

Joy Piper led the Hornets with three kills and Taylor Young had a team-high four assists. Maegan Fried had six digs for in the loss while Piper, Morgan Diltz and Ariel Wright had five each. Jaclyn Brett had two aces to lead Lyndon (6-13, 3-3). 

Husson 3 - Johnson State 0

Husson University improved their record to 16-11 overall and 4-3 in the Northern Atlantic Conference Saturday with a 3-0 match victory over Johnson State.

The Eagles earned the win by set scores of 25-9, 25-4 and 25-11.

Husson was lead by Hannah Olstad with a game-high 20 kills and six blocked shots. Teammate Aleta Johnson added 23 assists and Chelly Smith added 11 digs for the Eagles.

Johnson's Molly Grover collected two kills and Kylie Van Etten dished out three assists. With the loss the Badgers fall to 3-15 overall and 1-6 in the NAC.

 

The Eagles have a few days off before their final game of the regular season on Tuesday at Maine-Machias at 6:30 before the upcoming NAC playoffs.
