Husson Beat Badgers 5-0

Box Score

Bangor, ME - The Husson Eagles kicked off Homecoming with a 5-0 victory over the visiting Badgers of Johnson State. 4 different Husson players found the back of the net for the win, while first year keeper Brian Potter (Waterville, ME) earned the shutout, making just 3 saves on the day.

Greg Dawson (St. Andrews, Scotland) let Husson in the victory scoring a pair of goals. Philip Frost (Bangor, ME) and Zach Emeigh (Ellsworth, ME) each had a goal and an assist in the effort.

Johnson State goalkeeper Sam Martin (Essex, VT) saved 7 despite earning the loss in the game.

Dawson opened up the scoring at the tail end of the 11th minute, converted on a play that was started by Frost, finding Emeigh who made the nice touch to find Dawson for the score.

Frost and Emeigh each added unassisted tallies in the first half to give Husson a 3-0 lead at the break. Dawson picked up his second goal of the day with 39:25 left to play as the Eagles picked up where they left off at the begining of the second half.

First year midfielder Keith McNamara (So. Berwick, ME) took advantage of his playing time and scored with 21:30 remaining to cap the Husson scoring at 5 goals.

The Eagles outshot the Badgers 20-5 on the day, and shut out Johnson State in corners while earning 9 of their own.

Husson head coach Jeff Gettler was pleased with the game today, "We were very proud of the guys today; they played great on both sides of the ball. Defensively they probably gave their best effort of the season, and offensively just scored some great goals. We were able to get some more players on today and rest a bit, and that's important with another NAC game tomorrow. Overall it was a very good performance, great effort, great focus, and we're looking forward to another good day tomorrow."

Husson returns to Boucher Field tomorrow at noon when they take on Lyndon State. Johnson State travels to Maine Maritime Acadmey for a noon game of their own against the Mariners.
