Box Score The Husson University Eagles dropped a 76-56 loss to the Colby College Mules in non-conference action at Husson's Newman Gymnasium. Five Colby players scored double-digits a balanced offensive effort from the Mules. With the loss, the Eagles fall to 2-9 while the Mules improve to 10-2.
The game remained close until the thirteen-minute mark of the first half when the Mules began to pull away. Colby spread the scoring in the first half with 8 points each from Aarika Ritchie (Jr., Lee, ME) and Jil Vaughn (Jr., Wareham, MA). Caitlyn Butterfield (Sr., Gorham, ME) led the Eagles with 9 first half points. Husson's Marissa Albert hit a three-point-shot as time expired to end the half trailing Colby 42-30.
The second half featured a confident Colby that was quick with their offensive transition. The lead proved insurmountable for Husson and the game ended at 76-56.
Colby's Rachel Mack (Jr., Augusta, ME) led all scorers with 15 points, followed closely by Julianne Kowalski (Sr., Montville, NJ) with 12 points, shooting a perfect 6-6 from the floor.
Husson's Caitlyn Butterfield scored 14 points on the night, shooting 5-8 from the floor. Amanda Gifford (Jr., Lee, ME) and Bri Hanscom (Jr., Mattawamkeag, ME) each contributed 9 points to the Husson effort.
Husson opens North Atlantic Conference play on Friday, January 14 with a 6:00 PM home game against Lyndon State. Colby returns to action on January 14 with a 4:00 home game against Bowdoin.
