Eagles Best Beavers

Bangor ME -The Husson University volleyball team continued their success Wednesday night with a 3-0 win against the University of Maine at Farmington. With the win, the Eagles improve their record to 10-1 on the season, while the Beavers fall to 2-5.

Hannah Olstead  (SO, Farmington, NH)lead the Husson offense tallying nine kills and 16 assists. The Eagles were also led defensively by Kaitlyn McKay, (JR Lincol, RI) who racked up nine digs on the evening.  U. Maine at Farmington's Emily Beebe tallied 6 kills, followed by Jen Vadnais with 5 kills. Katie Allen recorded 12 assists on the loss. 

The Eagles kept complete control throughout the entire match, taking the first set 25-19, the second set 25-8, and the third set, 25-16. Husson began the second set with a 9-0 run. The Beavers scored three points after the run, but Husson would answer back with another 8-0 run, putting the set out of reach.  Husson Head Coach Pat DeBeck said the team played one of their best games of the year, and hopes to keep up the intensity throughout the season.

“One of the things I tell my team is to play a complete game, in that every aspect of the match is to the best of their ability,” said DeBeck. “Tonight was the closest we have come to a complete game this season. Our defense, offense and serving were all on today.”

Since the first loss of the year against Colby College, the Eagles have gone 5-0, and only dropped two sets in those five matches.

The Eagles will travel Castine on September 25 to take on the Eastern Nazarene College Crusaders, and the Maine Maritime Mariners. The matches are set for 12:30 AM, and 2:00 PM start times.
