Box Score 2 Presque Isle ME- The Husson University Volleyball swept the
University of Maine Presque Isle Owls over the weekend. With
the sweep, the Eagles improve their record to 9-1 on the season.
The Eagles took charge and won their matches, 3-1 and 3-0. Along
with the victories, the Eagles managed to only drop one set in the
double header against the Owls.
In the first game, The Eagles were led by Michelle Smith,
(SO, New Boston, NH) who finished the game with 12 kills and eight
digs. Rachel
Voicechovski, (JR, Westerly, RI) also contributed to the
winning cause by adding ten digs. The two combined for more than
half of the total digs in the game. While the Eagles won the first
set 25-16, the Owls would put the pressure on by taking the second
set 25-23. While Husson stumbled momentarily, they regained their
composure and took the next two sets 25-15, and 25-17 to pull away
with the first win on the day.
In the second game of the double header, The Eagles were once
again led by Voicechovski and Smith's defense as they tallied 22
digs in the winning effort. Hannah Olstad,
(SO, Farmington, NH) led the offense with 10 kills in the match.
Olstad also had six kills. The Eagles dominated the first two sets,
of the match winning 25-14, and 25-16. In the third set, the Owls
applied the pressure and kept it close, but in the end, the Eagles
finished, and won 25-22.
The Husson University volleyball team is back in action this
Wednesday, Sept. 22 at home against the University of Maine
Farmington Beavers. The game starts at 7 PM.
