Box Score BANGOR, ME—The Husson University Women's Soccer team
was able to clinch a nail biter against the University of Maine,
Fort Kent by a score of 4-2. Husson opened the game with a
quick goal by Alexandra Laniewski (Jr., Scarborough, ME) just 3:31
into the first half from a through ball by Eagle Megan Clement
(Sr., Brunswick, ME). The Bengals were quick to respond with
a goal from Whitney Sinclair (Jr., Dexter, ME) off a corner kick
from Victoria Dubois-Iredale (Fy., Blainville, Quebec).
Both teams remained battling until midway through the second
half when the Bengals took the lead by a goal Marie-Pier Daze (So.,
Ste. Sophie, QC) from fellow Bengal Whitney Sinclair, making the
score 2-1. Husson then played a short corner from Laniewski
to Clement, who crossed the ball into the box finding Amanda
Gifford (Jr., Lee, ME) to put it in the back of the net to tie the
game at 2-2. Husson then regained the lead in the

rd minute with an unassisted goal by Rebecca Jones
(Fy., Newmarket, NH) to put them up by a score of 3-2. Husson
quickly scored again in the 85
th with a goal by Michelle
Manning (Sr., Hampden, ME) with an assist by
Emily Zurcher (So.,
Topsham, ME), ultimately giving Husson the 4-2 victory over the U.
Maine Fort Kent Bengals.
With the win, Husson improves their record to 4-3 while the
Bengals fall to 4-2. The Husson University Eagles will play
against Wheaton College (Mass.) on Sunday, September 19 at 1:00 at
home.
