Jones' Hat Trick Grounds Eagles

Box Score

Hampden, ME –  A hat-trick for Bowdion's Eddie Jones (So., Scarborough, ME) helped the Polar Bears to a 4-0 victory over the Husson Eagles in a game played under the lights at Hampden Academy.  With the loss, the Eagles fall to 1-3 while the Polar Bears improve to 1-0-1.

Two first half goals by Eddie Jones gave the Polar Bears a 2-0 advantage at the half.  The game's first goal came 8:32 into the first half when Jones received a pass from Michael Gale (Jr., Portland, OR) and struck a far post goal.  Jones' second goal came thirteen minutes later off another assist from Gale.  Husson's Mason Smith (So., Houma, LA) came off his line to cut down the angle but was beat by a high strike by Jones that ricocheted off the far-post and into the goal.

Jones earned his hat trick off an assist by Taiahiro Nakamura (Sr., McLean, VA).  At the 26:31 mark in second half, Smith made a diving save to his right off a set piece shot by Willy Rouse (Jr., Birmingham, AL).

The Polar Bears would seal the score at 4-0 when Gale netted a goal of his own with 1:14 remaining in the game.

Husson's Smith recorded nine saves in goal on the loss.

The Eagles return to action on Saturday when they face Wheaton College at home.  Game time is set at 4:00 PM.  The contest is an Eagle Alert Game and all in attendance are encouraged to wear gold to the game to support the team.
