Box Score Bangor, ME – The Husson University men's soccer team
opened their 2010 season with a 6-0 loss to the University of Maine
at Fort Kent on Wednesday afternoon. Andre Anderson (Sr.,
Manchester, Jamaica) led the Bengals with a hat trick and an
assist. With the loss, Husson begins the young season 0-1, while
UMFK improves their record to 2-0.
The Bengals recorded 37 shots, with 18 on goal, while the Eagles
managed 10 in the match, with three on goal. The Bengals netted
their first goal in the tenth minute of play when Jermaine West
(Jr., New Baalbec, Jamaica) scored a header off a corner kick taken
by Anderson., Anderson's hat trick featured goals scored just
29 seconds apart. West also contributed to the cause with two
goals, and Amine El Moumen (Fy., Casablanca, Morocco) chipped in
one goal.
The Eagles managed three shots on goal from Adam Loiacono (Jr.,
Cranston, RI), James Crockford (So., Watford, England) and Tyler
Wentworth (So., Ellsworth, ME); however none of the shots found the
back of the net. Miguel Dominguez, the Eagles' goalkeeper and
captain of the team, played the first half of the game and made
four saves on seven shots. In the second half, Mason Smith tended
goal, making eight saves on 11 shots. David Girouard, goalkeeper
for UMFK, saved all three shots he faced.
The Husson University men's soccer team will play their
next match at home on Saturday Sept. 11 against Rhode Island
College. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 PM. The Eagles have five
remaining non conference games before their first conference game
versus Lyndon State.
