Bangor, ME - The Husson Eagles dominated the Thomas Terriers in
a 104-54 victory at Newman Gymnasium. With the win, the
Eagles extend their undefeated North Atlantic Conference (NAC)
winning streak to 9-0 and 12-8 on the season. With the loss,
the Terriers fall to 2-8 in the conference and 3-15 overall.
Four early points for Bri Hanscom (So., Mattawamkeag, ME) gave
the Eagles a 4-2 lead. Thomas's Mallorie Blakney (Jr.,
Fairfield, ME) hit both of her foul shots to tie the game at
four. Bethany Sevey (Jr., Skowhegan, ME) hit a three to make
it 7-4. After a close first few minutes, the Eagles pulled
away to end the half at 52-35.
Hanscom led the Eagles with 14 points followed by Sevey with 12
points. Thomas' Ashley Matchett (So., Skowhegean, ME)
contributed 10 points on the half shooting 6-7 followed by Mallorie
Blakney (Jr., Fairfield, ME) with 9 points.
On the game, Hanscom tallied 29 points and 9 rebounds while
shooting 13-17 from the floor and 3-3 from the foul line.
Husson's Sevey collected 16 points, shooting a perfect 9-9
from the floor. Thomas' Blakney and Matchett both recorded 15
points on the losing effort.
The Eagles return to action on the road against Maine Maritime
on Tuesday, February 9 at 5:30. The Terriers play on February
9 against Colby.
